Enfield’s vision is to establish the halls as thriving centres for creativity, support, advice, education and leisure. The halls are seen to be centres that can bring local people together, to build stronger neighbourhoods. FECA currently manage the bookings for six of the halls on behalf of enfieldhomes and will pass on details of potential bookings to the remaining 5 halls.

The halls are ideally situated to provide opportunities for groups, and individuals to set up activities that serve the needs of their local areas. Enfield council are currently implementing a £1m refurbishment programme of the community halls the first three halls to benefit from the programme was Kempe Hall Kempe Road Enfield, St Helier Hall Eastfield Road Enfield and Malden Hall in Edmonton.

bodyimg_newsKempe hall was the first in phase one of the refurbishment programme to be completed on 17th September and formally re-opened by the lead member for housing on Friday 18th with many happy adults and children in attendance.  The remaining halls in phase one are due to be completed by the end of October when residents and user groups will be invited to come along and get involved.  Phase two of the refurbishment programme which covers Boundary Hall, Klinger Hall, and Mottingham Hall in Edmonton, Ayley Croft Hall in Bush Hill Park and Brigadier Hall on the Fourhills estate are being prepared for tender and it is anticipated that these works will commence in January next year.

During the last few months we have seen an increase in the usage of these halls with Kempe hall now being used daily as a children’s centre, a new daily play group and cooking classes being introduced at Welcome Point, additional youth resources in Brigadier, Kettering, Mottingham and Snells Park not to forget the Karate club waiting to start in the newly refurbished St Helier to mention a few.

The Executive Directors of FECA would like to extend their thanks to the Elpida Andreou, Patrick Madigan, Brian Gormley, Linbrook Services and their sub contractors for their hard work in phase one.
